Welcome to the Passionfruit Rec Centre where pleasure enthusiasts come to bulk up their harness theory, strap-on stamina and overall dildo fitness.

Whether you’re a pro-pegger, trying strap-on play for the first time or preparing to share your cheeks with a loving partner, we’re sharing a series of tips, tricks and techniques to support your High Intensity Intimacy Training (HIIT).

Folly aside, this high-camp concept was created to help make strap on play and exploration lighthearted and fun; supporting our community wherever they’re at in their practice.

Before you get all hot and heavy, here’s a little warm-up featuring the hunky Chanelle (she/her) and Fin (they/them), captured by Alexis Desaulniers–Lea (she/her) @alexisdleaphotography.

Ahead of any practical exercises, you’ve gotta understand the apparatus at hand, right? In this case harnesses, penetrative objects and, most importantly, people.

Strap on play is only fun when it’s consensual, communicative and supportive of a curious mindset. What do we mean by this? Well, only with a mutual understanding of our wants, needs and capabilities can we be open to experiencing new things, and exploring new pleasure pathways. So, yes, while it’s tempting to want to leap (or thrust) right into it, it’s important that you have the conversations beforehand to set you up for a great session.

Buddy up.

Partner with someone that you trust (trust-fall, optional) and who will respect your desires, capabilities and limits throughout the workout. If you travel in more of a team dynamic, gather them ‘round for the following pep talks.

  • In pairs (or groups), discuss the kinds of scenarios you’re interested in exploring.
Pitcher, catcher, spotter, or perhaps more of a mascot? (Hey, we never knock a furry.) What are you most excited about? What stuff are you concerned about or what exercises might exceed your current skills or capabilities? Talk them through and how you might navigate them with kindness, compassion and understanding.
E.g. For the first few sessions, you might just want to experiment with wearing a harness, or supporting someone who is. Or running practice drills might be more your pace.

  • List what equipment you might need ahead of this workout.
Safety first, teamwork second, then comes comfort, of course. So, when you’re planning out your workout, think about the roles, scenarios and the kinds of gear you might need to make this happen. Lube is a must, and harnesses certainly make it easier to secure your strap-on dildo, dual-ended toy or vibrator.

You might even consider using a cushion or buffer to curb impact injuries, and maybe a Liberator wedge for added comfort. After all, no one’s ever regretted using a crash mat.

Warm up.

Biceps, triceps, quads, and those gorgeous glutes. Strap On sessions utilise a bunch of different muscle groups. The best way to prevent injury while prolonging play, is through a good warm up.

  • Dip into some dynamic stretches.
Here’s some Jizz Ed for you. Dynamic stretches are active movements that run through a full range of motion, performed repetitively to get the heart pumping and the blood moving around the body. Think squats, press-ups, lunges, hip thrusts, and some general gyration. We want to mobilise the areas we’ll be using, so they aren’t strained or sprained during the workout.

  • A good warm up also means a good lubing.
As well as some sensual touching, stroking and perhaps even some preparatory fingering, it’s important to find the right lubricant for the kind of workout you’re engaging in.

If you’re using silicone dildos or penetrators, you’ll want to use a water-based lubricant. This is also particularly useful for vulva-owners, as you can pick a water based lube that won’t mess with your vaginal pH. We recommend Sliquid Sea Water-Based Lubricant for its added seaweed extracts like nori, wakame and carrageenan: a smart ingredient which can act as a HPV blocker. So, if you’re experiencing active HPV or want the added piece of mind give this preventative potion a go.

(Please note: Sliquid Sea is not ideal for those with thyroid issues as it contains seaweed extracts in the form of carrageenan, nori and wakame which contain iodine.)

Planning on pegging? To prevent tearing, we recommend using lots and lots of lube because the butt has no natural lubrication. Check out this article on anal sex for tips to ‘awakening the rosebud’ ahead of your backdoor adventures.

Harness up.

So, you’ve had a chat about consent, equipment, what gets your motor running and what pumps the brakes. Now, we recommend finding the right harness for your workout and playstyle.

What kind of harness are you seeking?

  • More of a boxer brief or something cheeky where your assets are on full display?
  • Do you need something that supports a suction-based dildo or a dual-ended toy with added stimulation factor?
  • Will you need a supporting buffer or cushion for comfier thrusting?
  • Will you be using a packer during your workout? Perhaps a more open harness is more your pace.

What materials matter to you?

  • Turned on by the texture of leather? You might want to try something by WildHide or a vegan leather design by Fun Factory or Sportsheets, for tactility that’s kind.
  • What about stretch factor, would you prefer something adjustable with velcro or leather straps?
  • Perhaps you’ll be sharing this harness between lovers; who else will be using this harness?

Now, what?

Well, it kinda depends on your appetite. Want to dabble in dildo play? Perhaps a smaller, more entry-level strap-on dildo is more your style. Or, if you’re a size queen who wants an anthropomorphic monster cock, then so be it.

During our next instalment of Strap On sessions, we’ll be covering dildos, vibrators and penetrative playthings made for harnessed play.
